The Tufo technology in this model

Vectran barrier
The toughest material in the Tufo catalogue: a Vectran ply, a liquid-crystal polymer five times stronger than steel at equal section, against punctures, cuts and blowouts.
Airtight TR compound
Inner compound of nano-blocks, built into the casing, which holds air without a tube. It is what makes a tyre “tubeless ready”.
SPC Silica compound
Tufo's reference road compound: 66 Shore A, a blend of natural and synthetic rubbers loaded with activated silica, for wet grip and low rolling resistance.
Rubber puncture strip
A layer of rubber laid under the tread: whatever passes through the rubber stops there before reaching the casing. It adds to the model's puncture barrier, it does not replace it. Tufo calls it the “protective rubber ply”.

Comtura 4 TR, in a few words

What it does

The Comtura 4 TR is the tubeless tyre for the rider who rides a lot and does not want two sets of wheels. It copes with long rides, sportives and year-round training with very good mileage — it is the best-selling model in the TR road range, and for precisely that reason.

The tread and the compound

Tread in SPC Silica, the house silica compound: less outright grip than the Prima's Grip Silica, but clearly slower wear. The pattern is smooth in the centre for efficiency, ribbed on the shoulders for cornering grip.

The protection

Under the tread, the Vectran barrier — the same as on the top of the range. It is what built the model's reputation: on roads that wear tyres out, a Comtura 4 TR gets through the winter. 210/375 TPI casing, rubber puncture-protection strip, aramid beads, compatible with hookless rims. In 25, 28 and 30 mm.
