Vectran barrierThe toughest material in the Tufo catalogue: a Vectran ply, a liquid-crystal polymer five times stronger than steel at equal section, against punctures, cuts and blowouts.
SPC Silica compoundTufo's reference road compound: 66 Shore A, a blend of natural and synthetic rubbers loaded with activated silica, for wet grip and low rolling resistance.
Rubber puncture stripA layer of rubber laid under the tread: whatever passes through the rubber stops there before reaching the casing. It adds to the model's puncture barrier, it does not replace it. Tufo calls it the “protective rubber ply”.
Comtura Duo, in a few words
What it does
The Comtura Duo is the versatile inner-tube tyre of the Comtura family: a race tyre that accepts training. Foldable, it fits in a travel bag; fitted, it stands comparison with more expensive race tyres on the only ground that really counts, service life.
The construction
120/240 TPI casing, SPC Silica tread compound and, above all, the Vectran barrier under the tread: that is the model's selling point. This fibre stops punctures without adding the stiffness of a thick puncture-protection strip, and it stabilises the tyre in hard corners.
Who it is for
For wheels with a tyre and inner tube — standard hooked rims — and for those who do not want to switch to tubeless. In 25 and 28 mm, to be fitted with a light inner tube: a 50 g Tufo TPU inner tube saves nearly a hundred grams per wheel over an ordinary butyl tube.
