Standard puncture protectionAn extra layer of rubberised casing under the tread: a barrier sufficient against most punctures, without hurting efficiency.
SPC Silica compoundTufo's reference road compound: 66 Shore A, a blend of natural and synthetic rubbers loaded with activated silica, for wet grip and low rolling resistance.
Rubber puncture stripA layer of rubber laid under the tread: whatever passes through the rubber stops there before reaching the casing. It adds to the model's puncture barrier, it does not replace it. Tufo calls it the “protective rubber ply”.
Elite Ride, in a few words
What it does
The Elite Ride is the tubular for comfort and bad roads. Cobbles, battered tarmac, long spring classics: it is the model to fit when the course wears tyres out more than legs.
The tread pattern
Its tread is wide and wraps onto the sidewall, which puts rubber where a narrow tubular has none — at the precise moment the bike hits on the lean. In the centre, a system of sipes clears water; on the sides, double-diamond studs give grip on dry or wet ground.
The protection and the versions
A central composite puncture-protection layer absorbs shocks and perforations, backed by a rubber puncture-protection strip. 210/375 TPI casing, SPC Silica compound. Available in 23 and 25 mm, in black, red/black or tan sidewalls, and as a tubular clincher (C Elite Ride) for hooked rims.
