The Tufo technology in this model

Standard puncture protection
An extra layer of rubberised casing under the tread: a barrier sufficient against most punctures, without hurting efficiency.
SPC Silica compound
Tufo's reference road compound: 66 Shore A, a blend of natural and synthetic rubbers loaded with activated silica, for wet grip and low rolling resistance.
Composite puncture-protection belt
A composite belt of rubber and fibres laid under the tread, which allows a thinner tread — hence better efficiency — without losing resistance.

Hi-Composite Carbon, in a few words

What it does

The Hi-Composite Carbon is the house's versatile road tubular: fast enough for racing, durable enough for training. It is the model that did the most for Tufo's reputation among French sprinters, and it is still in the catalogue for that reason.

Where its name comes from

From two things. A composite puncture-protection layer placed under the tread, and a high-carbon tread compound. The first protects, the second resists abrasion — which allows a thinner tread. A thinner tread deforms less with each turn of the wheel: less rolling resistance, without losing longevity. That is the central compromise of the model.

The construction and the versions

120/240 TPI casing, SPC Silica compound, pressure up to 12 bar in 23 mm. It comes in 23, 25 and 28 mm, in black or tan sidewalls, and as a tubular clincher (C Hi-Composite Carbon) for hooked rims.
