The Tufo technology in this model
Standard puncture protectionAn extra layer of rubberised casing under the tread: a barrier sufficient against most punctures, without hurting efficiency.
Grip Silica compoundTread compound with nanostructured silica, tuned for each discipline. Its strength is grip, especially in the rain.
Airtight TR compoundInner compound of nano-blocks, built into the casing, which holds air without a tube. It is what makes a tyre “tubeless ready”.
Nylon-reinforced sidewallsA nylon ply on the sidewalls of gravel and XC tyres: protection against cuts and stability at low pressure.
Gravel Speedero, in a few words
What it does
The Speedero is the fastest-rolling of the three Tufo gravel tyres. From tarmac to forest tracks, cobbles, grass and gravel, it favours acceleration and cruising speed. It is the tyre for mixed routes where you spend more time rolling than clinging on.
The tread
A wide, shallow tread: the rubber works continuously in the centre, which explains the sharp acceleration and the quiet ride. The shoulders are still shaped for cornering, but the tyre does not pretend to replace a knobbly in greasy terrain.
Casing and sidewalls
210/375 TPI casing, supple, which smooths out irregularities and stops the tyre bouncing: handling stays stable where a stiff tyre turns twitchy. The sidewalls are protected by the nylon layer, and a puncture-protection belt covers the tread. Tubeless ready, aramid beads, compatible with hookless rims. In 36, 40 and 44 mm.
