The fast rear tyre: a speed tread that stays stable in corners, except in deep mud.
The XC12 TR SG is optimised for the rear wheel: maximum efficiency, traction and stability when leaning on any dry or damp terrain, except deep mud. To pair with an XC11 or XC14 up front. 210/375 TPI casing, reinforced sidewalls, hookless compatible.

The Tufo technology in this model
Standard puncture protectionAn extra layer of rubberised casing under the tread: a barrier sufficient against most punctures, without hurting efficiency.
Grip Silica compoundTread compound with nanostructured silica, tuned for each discipline. Its strength is grip, especially in the rain.
Airtight TR compoundInner compound of nano-blocks, built into the casing, which holds air without a tube. It is what makes a tyre “tubeless ready”.
Nylon-reinforced sidewallsA nylon ply on the sidewalls of gravel and XC tyres: protection against cuts and stability at low pressure.
XC12 TR SG, in a few words
What it does
The XC12 TR SG is optimised for the rear wheel. In cross-country, the front looks for grip and steering, the rear for traction and efficiency: these are two different briefs, and Tufo chose to treat them separately rather than make an average tyre.
The tread
A speed-oriented pattern, with closely spaced centre knobs for continuous rolling, and shoulders that stay stable when leaning on dry or wet ground. The limit is clear and stated: deep, sticky mud is not its terrain.
How to pair it
Pair it with an XC11 up front for all-round use, or an XC14 up front on technical, wet courses. 210/375 TPI casing, reinforced sidewalls, Grip Silica compound. Tubeless ready, compatible with hookless rims, 29 × 2.35.
In the same family

XC11 TR SG
The all-round XC, developed with pro racers: front or rear, trails, tracks and tarmac.

XC13 TR SG
The fastest in the XC range: dry trails, tracks and tarmac, with the gravel and road compounds.

XC14 TR SG
The XC for mixed and technical terrain: arrow-shaped knobs for wet roots and rocks.

XC14 E-25
The XC14 for electric-assist MTBs: same tread, compound more resistant to torque.
